I found CAWC online during the first lockdown, last year, and thought the group looked friendly. They do some great activities and fund-raising too. I’ve enjoyed our online meetings, and our one face to face event – I look forward to meeting everyone again soon.
So, a little about me…I have three adult children, two daughters and a son, who I am incredibly proud of, along with their partners and two delightful grandchildren. After a happy childhood, in Surrey, and studying Business at University, I got married and had my children, very young. When they were all at school, I started my journey into teaching. Some of my happiest memories of that time are chatting to my class, running forest school and teaching art club, as well as the friendships that I made.
I was also fortunate enough to travel extensively with my family, researching and organising some amazing itineraries. We have snorkelled in Antigua, experienced the culture of Mauritius, splashed in pools in Greece and Portugal and got to know stunningly beautiful places in Italy. We have explored many European cities, met Mickey at Disney and skied in Canada and Europe. I love nothing better than relaxing by the sea, listening to the waves crash onto the beach. I have travelled by train, ship, plane and car. These experiences built the foundation for my love of travel and exploring.
Two years ago, I had the opportunity to take on a new challenge and become a travel consultant with Travel Counsellors. It was a huge leap of courage, but I had always wanted to have my own business, since my time at University. Little did I know – we were heading for a pandemic. I am still absolutely committed to my business and have also discovered a love for river cruise, following my first sample of this style of travel, on the Rhine. I can’t wait until we can get back to travelling again and see more of our beautiful world.
We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm, and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open. (Jawaharial Nehru)
