“Over half term the team took some Young Carers on various trips which included flip out adventure park, Rush trampoline park and Lynx gym. Some of the children who attend these sessions have no other means for ‘getting out there’ therefore they value the interactions and time with dedicated staff and other young carers in similar positions.

The Young Carers are then able to return to School the following week and tell their own stories of the fun they had, not just their caring responsibilities. On the Tuesday we attended Flip Out adventure park, participants faced exciting challenges such as obstacle courses, rope swings, and climbing walls. These activities encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and a sense of achievement as participants conquered each challenge. It also fostered a spirit of adventure and resilience among the young carers.

On the Wednesday we were then able to take 32 young carers and 24 teenage carers to Rush Trampoline Park over 2 sessions which were extremely fun filled and exciting to all who attended. To finalise the half term week on the Thursday we took 23 young carers to Lynx Gym. The day was filled with laughter and excitement as participants navigated through soft play pits, took on monkey bar challenges, and participated in various games.

Despite initial feelings of anxiety among some young carers, the dedicated staff demonstrated remarkable skill in easing their apprehensions through good humour and supportive guidance. By pairing them with friends and fostering new relationships, staff helped these individuals overcome their hesitations and fully embrace the experience. All in all it was a very successful half term and we are looking forward to the coming weeks at club nights and supporting within local schools.”
