Bunco
Bunco
Looking for a night out, full of fun and laughter? Then, Bunco is your answer. This simple dice game requires no skill or previous experience and is a great way of just hanging out and making friends. Played in groups of four, with players moving to different tables throughout the game, the object is to win or lose the most games or to roll the most BUNCO’s. This event is open to all members, and we meet at the home of one of our members. The cost is £5 per evening.

Golf
Golf
This activity is open to all levels of golfers. We play on a local, public course which has fantastic practice facilities and multiple courses. We are very fortunate to have an amazing coach, PGA Director of Golf, Martin Heys. In 2014, Martin was awarded a Fellowship of the PGA for his services to the golf industry and is highly qualified to help us experience the fun and challenges of this great game! Lessons, led by Martin, are in the form of private CAWC golf clinics at Wexham Park Golf Centre.

Tennis
Tennis
CAWC tennis takes place on Monday mornings at the Dukes Wood Tennis Club in Gerrards Cross from 10-11:30 am. These are coached sessions for intermediate players and our coach works us through warmups, drills, and games focusing on doubles play. We currently have one group of 5 players but can start a second group for a minimum of 4 more players. So please let us know if you are interested.
Each term consists of 10 sessions and costs £152 -there are 3 terms a year that follow the English school calendar. All players also need to be a member of the Dukes Wood Tennis club which is about £300 a year but can be prorated for a partial year.
We have a lot of fun and would love for you to join us so please reach out with any interest or for more information.

Book Bunch
Book Bunch
Book Bunch meets once a month at noon, generally on the Tuesday following the CAWC General Meeting. We meet in a member’s home and enjoy a light lunch and great discussions. We try to read about 10 books per year from September to June, including fiction and non-fiction. It’s a good opportunity to read something that could be on your list, or that you wouldn’t normally choose, or to revisit old favourites. Not all our selections turn out to be universally popular and that leads to some lively debates. Each spring we have ‘field trip’ to a place of literary interest. Recent visits include Jane Austen’s Home, The Globe and Milton’s Cottage. We are a very social group who love to see new faces, and new members are welcome at any time during the year.

WoW (Women of the Word)
Looking for something that will start your week on the right foot? Women of the Word -WOW- is an informal group of Christian women who come together on Tuesday mornings during term time to support and encourage each other as we study God’s word. We typically follow a study guide focused on deepening our knowledge and understanding of Biblical content drawing us closer to God. We enjoy yummy drinks and nibbles and just being together. You don’t have to be a scholar to join us or be deeply religious, just interested in growing spiritually with friends. Please reach out to let me know your interest.

Hiking
Hiking
Day Hikes are a wonderful way to explore the stunning countryside in the Chilterns! Our hikes are between 4-6 miles, no more than 2-3 hours, and are usually within a 30-minute drive of the Gerrards Cross/Beaconsfield/Amersham area. We hike 3 times a month, including one weekend date. Hikes are rated on difficulty, but only a few are rated “difficult”. A reasonably fit person of any age should be able to handle all our hikes. (We hike for fun, not bragging rights!) And if we come upon an old church or a picturesque view, we stop and explore! We often finish at a pub for lunch. Dogs are welcome!

Let’s Go!
Let’s Go!
Let’s Go! allows members to share their ideas for fun days out with other club members. It could be visiting a local place of interest, museums and galleries, a walking tour, cookery class, a visit to a market – anything at all. It’s a wonderful way of making friends while exploring our local area. Members make the suggestions, pick a date, time, and a place to meet and off we go!

Let’s Cook!
LETS’ COOK
We are delighted to announce the return of Let’s Cook! Full details are posted on our FB page and are repeated here to make sure everyone has the details: The premise of Let’s Cook is very simple. Basically, a lady decides she wants to share a favourite recipe or recipes with a group of other ladies. The hostess chooses the date and time that suits her and invites the rest of the Let’s Cook group to her house so they can watch her demonstrate, think Gordon Ramsay without all the swearing. Once the cooking has finished, sampling can begin. Typically, the session lasts about 1.30 to 2 hours. It is on a first come, first served basis. This group is organized solely through a WhatsApp group. For more information:

Stitch and Chat
At our stitch and chat group is for members with any portable handiwork. Some of us knit, others do cross stitching or some small sewing work. We try to meet every two weeks on a Wednesday afternoon at someone’s home over a nice cup of tea or coffee, a chat to hear all the latest news and of course do some handiwork.
